Haitian Art Evening

Thursday, September 22nd
7:00 – 9:00 pm

At the Studio

Haiti is where our office manager and photographer Amy spent the last year
working to support the response to the devastating 12 January earthquake.

The earthquake was one of the most catastrophic urban disasters in modern
history and the cholera outbreak was a further blow – but there is so much
more to Haiti; soulfulness, beautiful landscapes, rich culture, a vibrant
art scene and music that makes your heart dance.

Haiti has one of the highest number of artists per capita in the world and
the artisan scene is rich in diversity and form. Amy’s goal with this
exhibition is to showcase the beauty of Haiti through unique, hand-made
metal pieces made from oil drums.

Come to our studio on 22 September and enjoy some of the artwork, sounds and
tastes of Haiti.

The metal work will be on exhibit to view and purchase, with the opportunity
to order directly from Haiti to support local artisans.

Time and again, artists in Haiti said what they need more than aid, was
exposure to international markets and increased livelihood activities.
Supporting Haitian artists is a direct contribution to economic recovery and
a way to add unique detail to your home.
