One summer day, en route to a rural music festival in Wayne, Alberta, we stopped alongside the lonesome highway just outside Irricana. My friends had already been married for a year or, but as they contemplated leaving the city where they met, to return home to the provinces they both come from – they wanted to do some wedding photos, with an notable touch of Alberta. So imagine our delight as we drove across the expansive prairies to spot a pick-up truck 100 feet up in the air … a tiny spot in an otherwise open and endless plain. And from there, we strolled up the main street of Irricana … wide roads and diagonal parking, reminiscent of quiet rural towns and we found quirky and colourful backdrops to explore.
Little did we know that their much-hoped for son was already in the works … so a few months later we connected again, this time to capture a few moments of the two of them enjoying what they love best … reading. newspapers. together. in bed. And why not throw in a glass of whisky to help it all go down smoothly.
Sadly, just a few months later, they left us to rejoin family in the Maritimes and of course, to ensure their little man was born a Maritimer not only in heart, but on her soil as well.
Sure do miss them, but always thankful for the time spent and joyful photos to look back on. Until we meet again, with love, Amy
